An historic Lowell textile mill was converted into artists’ studios and homes. Appleton Mills was positioned as a fresh, quirky and fun place to live, whose unique blend of history, art, and contemporary amenities would appeal to artists and non-artists alike. We involved Lowell’s art community by using artwork and photos by local artists and leveraged the building’s history by incorporating actual 19th-century newspaper clippings with articles about the site when it was a working textile mill. The building was fully leased in record time.
